Student Leadership Project
In
our study of 1 Corinthians you will become the teacher. You
will be given a short passage in 1 Corinthians and will design a power point presentation
to teach the class explaining the verses. In addition, you will create a worksheet that the class will fill in during
your Bible lecture.

will be a collaborative effort with one or more students working together on

This week we will review over coordinating and subordinating conjunctions. We will go over and work with correlative conjunctions
and conjunctive adverbs. The students will incorporate correlative conjunctions and conjunctive adverbs into a simple writing project. The rest of the week our focus will be on interjections and how they stand alone. An interjection does not interact with other parts of speech. Students will diagram sentences and show the the different parts of speech and the relationships they participate in. Examples: a conjunction joins two words or two groups of words and a noun agrees with its verb.

adverbs and adjectives becoming weak modifiers. Each student will replace weak modifiers with strong and specific vocabulary words. We will continue our group discussion about weak modifiers not providing useful

Each student chose a type of essay (narrative, expository, persuasive, descriptive) and will be completing the essay this week. Then they will be reading over what they wrote and editing it before submitting their final essay.

Fruit Of The Spirit Project
This week we will finalize our Fruit of the Spirit class presentations and study. The following week we will begin our Unit 5 study of Paul's epistles to the church in Thessalonica (1 & 2 Thessalonians). I am looking forward to our upcoming study.

This week we will be studying and discussing the three moods tenses can appear in:
indicative, imperative and subjunctive.
We will talk about how the mood shows the writer’s attitude toward what she/he is saying. Each student will construct several sentences that use each of these moods.
Later in the week, the students will learn how mood is only one of many verb properties.
We will go over tense, aspect and voice.

Research Paper and Class Presentation - ‘The Fruit of the Spirit’

Parents and Students,
While our overarching study in our Bible class this
year is the beginning and development of the early church, our spring semester
will now focus specifically on several of the epistles Paul wrote to the
churches. Galatians is the first letter
our class has been studying. Within this
epistle to the believers in the province of Galatia resides a Scripture passage
best known as ‘The Fruit of the Spirit’.
Galatians 5:22-23 (New Living Translation – NLT)
But the Holy Spirit produces
this kind of fruit in our lives:
love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
To grasp the relevance and personal application that
can be drawn from this portion of Scripture, our students will be given one
‘Spirit’ quality and . . .
1. Complete a 1 page Research
Synopsis
2. Write a 1 – 2 page research
paper (using the Research Synopsis as a guide for the
information required in the
research paper)
3. Prepare a 5 – 10 minute oral presentation based on
their research (including the
artistic expression of the
student’s specific ‘Spirit’ quality)
4. Memorize Galatians 5:22-23 (New Living
Translation – NLT)
Class time will be devoted
to discussing the scope and content of the research synopsis sheet, the
research paper and oral presentation, providing ample computer time for
research, and understanding the grading rubric, for the components of this
project.
