ELA ~ Ms. Kirk ~ February 22 -26, 2016


This week we will finish working on our verbisections exercise.  We have been working with verbs and making observations about how the verb is used in the sentence.  Later in the week, we will begin to work with adverbs and adjectives.  Each student will construct a short essay and monitor if they are using weak modifiers such as very, long, little, slowly, greatly, etc.  These weak modifiers do not provide useful information and can be confusing and open to interpretation.  When using modifiers, each student needs to ask himself/herself if you are using too many. With this essay, each student will be encouraged to use strong and specific vocabulary.
